DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the course is to prepare and train cryoEM facili
 ty users in sample preparation methods\, introduce users to the image data
  acquisition workflow\, expand knowledge about cryo-EM methods among resea
 rchers and show that everyone can learn how to use cryo-EM for structural 
 biology. \nThe course is open for facility users or potential facility use
 rs\, such as PhD students\, postdocs\, and researchers within the life sci
 ences who are curious and will profit from cryo-EM skills. We welcome loca
 l and international applications. To attend\, the course participants shou
 ld be familiar with electron microscopy and structural biology. \nThis cou
 rse is supported by SciLifeLab\, CryoNET and Umeå University and organize
 d by the Umeå Centre for Electron Microscopy (UCEM). \n\nThis course will
  cover practical aspects of cryo-EM sample preparation and data acquisitio
 n. \n \nThe following topics will be covered: \nOverview of cryo-EM method
 s  \nMicroscope design and electron optics  \nSample preparation  \nData c
 ollection for single particle analysis (SPA) \nIntroduction to SPA image p
 rocessing \n \nThe course consists of lectures\, cryo lab work\, demonstra
 tions and practical exercises for all participants\, hands-on experiences 
 of microscopy operation and discussions. A detailed schedule will be provi
 ded to accepted participants.
