DESCRIPTION:National course open for PhD students\, postdocs\, researchers
and other employees in all Swedish universities\, in need of metabolomics
data analysis skills. We also welcome applications from outside of Sweden
and from the non-academic sector\, for more info contact us! \n\n**[Apply
 here!](https://forms.gle/mvQFpdrxjucfeKR99)**\n\nWe will go through study
design\, familiarize ourselves with principles of LCMS\, GCMS and NMR expe
riments\, pre-process the raw data acquired from analytical instruments an
d perform downstream data analysis and interpretation using multivariate m
ethods such as PCA\, (O)PLS and (O)PLS-DA. The course will include lecture
 s and hands-on exercises.\n\n**Important dates and information**\n---\nApp
 lication opens: 2025-09-19\nApplication closes: 2026-02-16\nConfirmation t
o accepted students: 2026-02-20\nCourse Leader and teachers: Elena Drachev
 a\, Katie Bennett\, Carl Brunius\, Hans Stenlund\, Stefano Papazian\, Ilon
a Dudka.\nIn case you miss information on any of the above dates\, please
 contact: Elena Dracheva\nEmail: edu.metabolomics@nbis.se\n\n**Course fee**
\n---\nA course fee of 2000 SEK for academic participants and 9500 SEK fo
r non-academic participants will be invoiced to accepted participants. \nT
he fee includes lunches and coffee.\n\n*Please note that NBIS cannot invoi
ce individuals*\n\n**Topics covered will include:**\n---\n- Designing a me
tabolomics experiment\n- Principles of LCMS\, GCMS and NMR techniques\n- P
re-processing (peak picking\, alignment\, annotation) of raw metabolomics
and exposomics data with MS-Dial\n- Quality controls of raw data\n- Analys
is of metabolomics and exposomics data using PCA\, (O)PLS and (O)PLS-DA in
R and SIMCA software\n- Assessment of model performance and selection of
differential metabolites\n\nDue to limited space the course can accommodat
e a maximum of 20 participants. If we receive more applications\, particip
ants will be selected based on selection criteria\, including (but not lim
ited to) correct entry requirements\, motivation to attend the course\, as
well as gender and geographical balance.
