Physiology of ion channels and their role in disease

A PhD-level course on ion channels, which includes a week at ion-channel laboratories in Linköping University and online seminars before and after. Lectures on ion channel theory will be complemented by hands-on workshops on experimental techniques and computational methods.

- An online introductory seminar (October 30, 2025)
- A week at Linköping University campus US with lectures and workshops on ion channel methods (week #46, November 10-14, 2025)
- Online group presentations (December 9-10, 2025)
Expect to learn about:
- General membrane electrophysiology
- Methods to study ion channel structure and function
- The properties of ligand-gated ion channels
- The properties of voltage-gated ion channels
- Role of ion channels in physiology (neuronal / cardiac excitability)
- Role of ion channels in disease
- Basic principles of ion-channel pharmacology and drug design
