Description

Cryoelectron tomography (CryoET) and Subtomogram averaging (STA) are emerging techniques for structural biologists. We are happy to announce that we are hosting a CryoET and STA workshop, taking place on 2-4 December 2026 at SciLifeLab, Stockholm.

The focus of the workshop is to provide training in some of the most recent developments of CryoET and STA data processing using for instance nextPYP, TomoBEAR, Warp/M, taught by the developers themselves.

The workshop provides hands-on training in CryoET and STA encompassing all stages of the pipeline: alignment and reconstruction of tilt series, tomogram visualization and archiving, particle selection and extraction, and subtomogram alignment, averaging, refinement and classification. No previous experience is required. Participants are required to bring their own laptops with mouse to the workshop.

Teachers
Misha Kudryashev, Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association. Developer of TomoBEAR

Alberto Bartesaghi, Duke University. Developer of nextPYP.

Dimitry Tegunov, Genentech. Developer of Warp/M

Veijo Tuomas Verneri Salo, Karolinska Institutet.
