As soon as your training has been planned, we recommend announcing it on the SciLifeLab Training Portal. In this short tutorial we go through all the steps of how to do this. Announcing your training via the Training Portal will automatically include it in the SciLifeLab Events & Training Newsletter, the SciLifeLab Slack, and other connected outlets.

The SciLifeLab Training Hub offers different ways to host your training material so that participants are able to access it during and after the training occurs. The SciLifeLab Canvas is a learning management system that admits participants regardless of University, and can be used to create lessons and quizzes. SciLifeLab GitHub Templates are also available to be used for simple versioning and more customization of your material, though require some technical skill. Training at SciLifeLab often involves participants performing computational tasks. To support this, SciLifeLab Serve offers the use of JupyterLab, RStudio, and VSCode notebooks as a service for teaching of workshops, courses, and other training formats. Sweden has committed to the development of Open Educational Resources (OER) in support of the aim of increasing the Open-ness of science. As part of this, materials should be made available with clearly defined metadata. As you develop your training, ensure you include a plan for collecting the required information and prepare for licensing your materials by adhering to rights restrictions on images.

To assist in creating materials you can release under a CC-BY license, Unsplash and Pixabay have images, videos, and music that are royalty-free and can be used with or without attribution according to their license.

For Free and Open Source Software, Canvas Commons can be used for creating simple animations through code, and OBS Studio can be used for simple recordings.
